A Unique Perspective
I specialize in resolving employment disputes. While attending one of my first mediations as a first-year attorney, I saw the impact the mediator had on my client and I quickly realized that I wanted to be on the other side of the table, helping the parties resolve their dispute so they could move on with their lives. I became a full-time mediator after 13 years representing employees and employers in a broad range of single-plaintiff, class, and representative employment actions.
Having practiced in Big Law and at boutique employment law firms, representing clients on both sides of the “v,” I am uniquely qualified to see a case from each side’s point of view. I have represented Fortune 100 companies, small and mid-size employers, and employees across a broad range of industries, including retail, food and beverage, senior living, health care, finance, entertainment, manufacturing, transportation, and real estate. During my mediations, I draw on this broad experience to understand each party’s perspective, the unique challenges facing the party, and the strengths and weaknesses of the party’s position.
On a more personal level, I come from a large, very opinionated, and very outspoken family. And I am the middle child in every sense of the word; I have never been the one involved in the arguments, rather, I am the “neutral” party who listens, empathizes, analyzes, and “suggests” how family members can resolve their differences. In effect, I have been training to be a mediator my entire life.
Education and Training
I received my JD from UCLA School of Law and my mediation training through the Strauss Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University. In addition to handling private mediations, I serve as a mediator on the Central District of California’s Mediation Panel, and as a settlement officer in the Resolve Law LA program at Los Angeles Superior Court. I also regularly put my mediation skills to the test at home with my three kids.
I also serve as an arbitrator through the AAA Employment Arbitration Panel.
Professional Affiliations
I have served on the Executive Committee of the Beverly Hills Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Section. I am currently a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Section, the Beverly Hills Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Section, and the California Lawyers Association’s Labor and Employment Section.
